  • I recently reviewed several unfinished editing projects and noticed a repeating problem: most delays appeared during the soundtrack phase. To simplify the process, I started building drafts around royalty free music instead of searching for tracks after the visuals were already complete. That adjustment changed more than I expected. Once a rhythm exists early in the timeline, scene timing becomes easier to judge and transitions feel less random. I also spend far less time replacing tracks halfway through production because the emotional direction is established from the beginning. Another interesting effect is improved consistency across projects. Whether I’m editing social clips, tutorials, or short promo sequences, the workflow now feels more stable because audio decisions happen at the planning stage instead of during final cleanup. It started as a small experiment to reduce editing friction, but after several projects I realized the structure itself became more efficient. Now I naturally approach new edits by defining sound first and visuals second.
